There's definitely an issue with how paladins are generally perceived. No argument that it's an easy class to play, because it's straightforward but that does't necessarily make it boring. My favourite class is arcanist, but it's not really a good choice for a new player. Very investment heavy and takes quite a bit of practice to pilot it. Personally, I'd suggest picking a DPS class as your first for the story, getting to Punika and then boosting a support with the Punika pass. Scouter - Transformation class with a static rotation after, looks cool but not complicated. Reaper - Bounce across the entire screen and look cool or kill yourself, damage feel meh for effort.
